
Aleksandra Świgut – pianist, soloist and chamber musician, PhD in Musical Arts, teacher at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. According to critics, one of the most distinctive personalities on the classical music scene. Winner of 2nd Prize at the 17th Edvard Grieg International Piano Competition in Bergen, as well as special prizes: the Audience and Orchestra Award and the prestigious Steinway Prizewinners Concert Network Award.
As a promoter of performance on period pianos, she won second prize at the International Chopin
Competition on Period Instruments in Warsaw. Semi-finalist at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano ompetition in Tel Aviv, participant at the 18th International Chopin Competition in Warsaw (2021) and winner of numerous international youth piano competitions (e.g. in Ettlingen, New Orleans and Enschede). Soloist at the most prestigious music festivals, including Chopin and His Europe, Chopin Festival Nohant, Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival, Chopin à Paris Festival, International Chopin Festival in Duszniki Zdrój, Midis-Minimes Festival in Brussels, Chopin Geneve Festival, Cremona Festival, Ascoli Piceno Festival, Eufonie Festival in Prague, Paderewski Festival in Raleigh (USA), and others. The artist is a regular guest of elite European ensembles such as Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, AUKSO, Beethoven Academy Orchestra, Sinfonietta Cracovia, {oh! Historical Orchestra, Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic, Lodz Philharmonic Orchestra, Opole Philharmonic Orchestra, Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra, Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra and others. She has worked with renowned conductors such as Lawrence Foster, Maxime Pascal, Aleksandr Marković, Zoi Tsokanou, Marek Moś, Johannes Gustavsson, Grzegorz Nowak, Paweł Przytocki and others. In 2023 Aleksandra recorded a unique album of works by Fryderyk Chopin, played on a period piano Erard 1858, published by the Fryderyk Chopin National Institute, and an album of works by Witold Maliszewski, recorded for the DUX label. In her own programmes she also performs with her sister Agnieszka Świgut, violinist at the Royal Stockholm Opera House, and in many chamber music ensembles, including one with cellist Marcin Zdunik, with whom she recorded a CD of works by Robert Schumann in 2018.
She received a scholarship from the National Children’s Fund (2003-2010), which currently supports
her teaching activities. She has been the recipient of several scholarships from the Ministry of Culture, the Franciszek Wybrańczyk Foundation, the German Jutting Foundation, the Young Scientists Scholarship and the Młoda Polska Scholarship. She is a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, the Katowice and Gdańsk Academies of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
