Bacewicz Piano Duo – Hanna Holeksa, Anna Liszewska
Polish music of the 19th century is associated with the Romantic era’s characteristic reference to national culture, which was particularly important during the period of partition, as it allowed for the preservation of a statehood that no longer formally existed. Polish composers of that time were particularly fond of the piano as an instrument that could successfully meet both artistic and educational expectations, popular not only among the aristocracy but also among the bourgeoisie.
